There are no entry requirements for this course. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a paying adult.

The course consists of evening classroom sessions, including talks, equipment demonstrations and discussions. This will be integrated with afternoon practical sessions in the kitchen.

In this course, you will cover a range of modules that provide practical culinary skills and knowledge related to budget-conscious cooking, including:
Basic Cooking Techniques: This module covers fundamental cooking techniques like chopping, slicing, dicing, sautéing, roasting, and simmering. These skills are essential for creating a wide variety of dishes efficiently.
Meal Planning and Budgeting: This module will teach students how to plan meals effectively, create shopping lists, and manage their food budget. It will cover topics like understanding food labels and price comparison strategies.
Smart Shopping: This module will focus on making informed choices at the grocery store, including identifying cost-effective ingredients, understanding unit pricing, and utilizing discounts and coupons.
Cooking with Seasonal and Affordable Ingredients: Students will learn how to choose and prepare meals using seasonal and budget-friendly ingredients. This module will include discussions on the importance of buying local produce and reducing food waste.
One-Pot and Batch Cooking: This module will introduce students to one-pot and batch cooking techniques, enabling them to prepare multiple meals at once, saving time and money.
