This course is set up over two days per week with theory sessions and practical sessions.
The units you will cover include block paving, brickwork, pipe work, wallpapering and painting. You will develop your hand skills in each area and yourenhance your knowledge of health and safety within the construction industry.
There are no formal entry requirements for this Level 1 course.

Teaching and assessment methods include theory-based sessions, which are classroom taught. These sessions are tested through paper-based examinations.
Practical-based sessions are delivered in our trades workshop, which is based in Ramparts Industrial Estate, Berwick upon Tweed. These sessions are tested through practical assessment.
Assessments both in the classroom and in the workshop are spaced throughout the academic year.
If you do not already hold a GCSE grade 4 or above or an SQA National 5 or above in mathematics or English Language, you will sit these with us. GCSE classes are taught over two days for the duration of the academic year.
The aim of this course is to provide you with a taste of a number of trades so that you can choose which you enjoy most in order to develop your skills and knowledge at Level 2.
