The qualification allows you to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment and/or career progression in the sectors of health and social care and childcare. It provides opportunities for the development of transferable skills and supports progression to level 2 qualifications along with providing you with the opportunity to progress to employment, in due course, in a range of job roles in the care sectors.
You will take part in practical activities, trips and voluntary community-based activities to develop your independent learning. Ideal if you would like to train and prepare for a career working with children and young people or in health and social care.
You don't need any formal qualifications to join the course, however you will need to have good communication skills and a strong interest in working with people in care settings or with children.

All units will be internally assessed and externally quality assuread. A range of methods of assessment will include written work, designing a leaflet or booklet, group discussions and skills demonstrations.
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your chosen career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills. This will be a mandatory part of your study bundle.
The course is full-time and currently runs Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9am-4.15pm. Days and times of study are subject to change and will be confirmed at the beginning of term.
The qualification is aimed at those who wish to develop an understanding of both health and social care and childcare settings before deciding whether working in the sector is for you. You will;
• gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment and/or career progression in the sectors
• tailor their learning to their interests through the provision of a broad range of optional units
• develop transferable skills
The qualification supports progression to Level 2 qualifications in health, social care or children's settings and provides you with the opportunity to progress to employment, in due course, in a range of job roles in the care sectors
