The aim of this qualification is to provide adult students with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children, from birth to 7 years of age, with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years.
Students do not need to have previous experience or qualifications in working with children to undertake this qualification.

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which may include written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.
Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to complete this qualification as it is knowledge only.
This course takes place over 16 weeks, with classes on one day per week for 3 hours per day.
The aim of this qualification is to give a basic understanding of childcare and education, as well as parenting and babysitting. It will also help you to make an informed choice about working with children and young people.

On completion of this course, you could progress to a Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator course with Northumberland College, or a similar Level 3 course.
