This programme is ideal for learners aged 18 and above, who are working in a range of settings within the public, private or voluntary sectors and who wish to raise their awareness of mental health or for those who wish to improve their understanding to increase their opportunities of finding work.
Learners wishing to undertake the certificate should be aged 18 or over. You will need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in literacy as you will be expected to write answers for assessment purposes.
If this is your first full level 2 qualification you will be asked to complete a declaration form.

Mental distress takes many forms. This full Level 2 qualification aims to broaden learners’ knowledge of mental ill-health and the most commonly diagnosed mental health conditions. Learners will develop an awareness of the signs and symptoms of these conditions and how they may affect people’s day-to-day lives. Learners will also gain an insight into how these conditions can be successfully managed.
You will be allocated your own study pack and have a personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. (This qualification is also available on-line)
Flexible
After successfully completing the course candidates will be able to further their own continuous professional development, which may improve their career prospects or progress to further training. You could also progress on to further study in the field or other Distance Learning programmes.
