This course is carried out over two days per week, with theory and practical sessions.
The units you will cover will be blockwork, plastering, joinery housing joints, wallpapering and pipe work. You will develop good hand skills and an understanding of health and safety, as well as the principals of building.
To enrol on this course, you should hold a Level 1 construction qualification in either multi-skills or a specific trade.

Teaching and assessment methods include theory-based sessions, which are classroom taught. These sessions are tested through online examinations.
Practical sessions are delivered in our trade workshop based at Ramparts Industrial Estate, Berwick upon Tweed, and are tested through practical assessments.
Assessments both in the classroom and in the workshop are spaced throughout the academic year.
A good working knowledge of English and Math's would benefit you on this course.
The aim of this qualification is to continue on from our Level 1 Multi-Skills course. You will further your knowledge and skills in basic trades, which will allow you to progress into employment in the new build housing sector.

Upon completion of this qualification, you can progress into either employment in the new build housing sector, or onto one of our trade specific Level 2 courses in a discipline of your choice.
