What’s it all about?

Welding is a skill that shapes the world. From the frames of skyscrapers to the cars we drive, welding plays a pivotal role in building the structures around us. This Level 2 programme is designed for those with a passion for crafting and constructing, offering a comprehensive blend of practical training and theoretical knowledge.

You will learn from experienced professionals in workshops, mastering techniques such as MIG, TIG, and MMA welding. You will need 2 GCSE's including Maths and English at grade 4/C or above, Or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

You will be taught using a range of teaching techniques including:

- Demonstrations
- Instruction
- Training
- Individual development

You will complete a training program in each welding process then complete a series of weld tests linked to industry standards.

You will also be required to answer underpinning knowledge questions U.P.K.

Achieving a grade 4 (A-C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is crucial for your future success, opening doors to further education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. These core subjects are the foundation of many careers, and most employers and colleges require them. The aim of the course is to develop skills and knowledge in welding to allow you to progress to career in industry.

You will study a several modules when studying this course including:

- Working safely in an engineering environment
- Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
- Using and communicating technical information
- Preparing and using manual metal arc welding equipment
- Preparing and using manual TIG or plasma-arc welding equipment
- Preparing and using semi-automatic MIG, MAG and flux cored arc welding equipment
