The course will prepare you to work as a level 3 educator in line with the national curriculum (Early Years Foundation Stage) with children between birth and 5 years. It is designed for adult students and runs on a part-time, flexible basis to work around work, family and other commitments.
It is expected you will complete the award in 12 months and recommended you undertake 350 recorded placement hours over the duration of the course.
Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that students will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Minimum requirements set out in the full and relevant criteria have been surpassed and this qualification fully reflects the priorities of practitioners and employers to meet the needs of young children.
You will require an enhanced DBS, references and employment / a placement in the 0-5 years early years sector.

To gain this qualification you will need to: Pass all units, complete a longitudinal study in the setting and show competence in a real work environment.
You will be assessed using a range of methods including: Written reports, posters and booklets, observations in the setting, group class tasks, reflective practice and peer assessment.
English and maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your chosen career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills. There is a requirement that all EYE's must have a level 2 or GCSE (4 and above) in maths and English to practice at level 3.
The course is designed for students aged 19 years and over who wish to study to gain the required qualification to practice as a level 3 early years educator (EYE) in line with the national curriculum (early years foundation stage) and government requirements working with babies and children from birth to 5 years (and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years).
The course runs on a part-time, flexible basis to fit around work and family commitments. You should be progressing from a relevant level 2 award, employed or volunteering in an early years setting with sound knowledge and experience in the sector. It is expected you will complete the award in 12 months and you are required to undertake 350 recorded placement hours over the duration of the award.
