Who is the Skills Bootcamp for? 

This Skills Bootcamp is aimed at businesses of all sizes. Larger organisations with innovation teams or leads that have responsibility for ensuring the adoption of systems, processes and technologies that drive efficiency, productivity and market edge will benefit from this programme.

Small and medium-sized enterprises would benefit from the Bootcamp to ensure they’re taking an inclusive, sustainable and innovative approach to scaling their organisation, productivity and growth.

What will the Skills Bootcamp cover? 

This Skills Bootcamp is designed to upskill participants, supporting them to embed practices within their businesses to ensure they can grow through innovation.

The programme will provide knowledge on innovation best practice, methodologies and tactics, including the Design Council’s Double Diamond framework. Participants will gain the necessary skills to implement a new product or service and improve internal processes.

    • Expected learning outcomes for this bootcamp include:
    • Spotting opportunities and acting on them
    • Entrepreneurial mindset - and identifying gaps in skills
    • Understanding of their own IP, the value of it and how to protect it
    • Understanding of design thinking methodology
    • How to assess validity
    • Prototype (or a plan to develop a prototype) for an innovation
    • Use of business model canvas and value proposition
    • Marketing planning for new products or services
    • Awareness of funding options and requirements
    • Knowledge of how to develop a pitch and create a pitch-deck
    • Commercialisation of new ideas
    • How to map out a process and identify what doesn’t work and why
    • Managing change
    • How to create a business case for stakeholder buy-in
    • How to influence others
    • Understanding the local innovation landscape, relevant to their sector
    • Network of peers for support

 

How long will the course last?

The course includes 60 hours of learning over a two-week period and will be delivered both online and in-person.
