Art and design students at Northumberland College have been showing off their talents and creativity in a mini art exhibition.
Given a brief to create a series of 3D models based around a theme of ‘art and architecture’, students Amanda Crossman, Shannon Wilson, Harriet Dean and Evelina Norkute, used paper to create a series of sculptures which were displayed at Ashington Campus.
Harriet, who is studying a Level 3 Diploma, said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved; it’s been great to work as a team and see how all our hard work has come together.”
The project allowed the students to explore and experiment with a range of art and design materials, techniques and processes in order to develop a greater understanding of the creative process, as well as the opportunity to collaborate and work as part of team.
With the knowledge and skills gained from organising the exhibition the students are looking forward to showcasing their artwork again in the future.
Art lecturer Rachel Burns, added: “The students have really enjoyed their first project back at college. It has been a great opportunity for them to demonstrate and develop practical skills in a classroom environment again.”
