This course is about the removal of sections from a tree crown under the control of rope rigging and lifting gear. The work will be carried out by operator with significant experience of arboriculture operations and chainsaw operations in a canopy.
You will carry out a tree hazard and a ‘working at height’ assessment to determine if the operative is safe to perform the work and to determine the safest and most efficient access method.
This aerial work must be supported by a ground worker with significant experience of aerial treework and rigging techniques. The course covers the use of rigging for the removal of small tree sections in relation to pruning operations where targets below may pose a significant risk through to the removal of part/whole trees where targets do not allow for free-fall/hand-thrown techniques.
Your work must conform to all current legislation and codes of practice. This course is for operators with significant experience of arboriculture operations and chainsaw operations in a canopy.
You must have the following qualification before you can enrol on this course:
- Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting
- Certificate of Competence in Felling and Processing Small Trees up to 380mm
- Certificate of Competence in Felling and Processing Medium Trees Over 380mm and under 780mm
- Certificate of Competence in Felling and Processing Large Trees Over 780mm
- Certificate of Competence in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue
- Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness

You will be taught using a mix of theory and practical and assessment, leading to certification should take place as soon as possible following the successful completion of the training course.
This is a short course, taking place over 4 days of training and 1 day of assessment. The course will take place between 9am-5pm. Days dependent on booking availability.
On completion of this course, you will have the skills to carry out aerial tree rigging and a certificate of competence to use within your job.
