A Retrofit Advisor is a customer-facing role. They can give independent advice to homeowners or residents to help them understand retrofit, and what the right options are for them and their homes.
Retrofit Advisors are the first point of contact for residents. In social housing they are often Tenant Liaison Officers or similar. They will work alongside Retrofit Coordinators to provide a link with the resident, or supporting the administrative process.
The Retrofit Advisor’s role begins at the very start of the retrofit project. Working under the Retrofit Coordinator, they will provide initial advice to the homeowner or resident, help to establish the client’s needs and budget parameters, and work with the Retrofit Coordinator to determine the intended outcomes.
Many Retrofit Advisors will remain involved in the resident-engagement role throughout the process of assessing the property, designing and planning the solution, and undertaking the installation. Their job is mainly about communication and keeping the resident engaged and onboard, ensuring that disruption is minimised as much as possible. They will work closely with the Retrofit Coordinator.

Retrofit Assessors will play a key role as the UK reduces its carbon emissions by improving energy efficiency and retrofitting many of 27 million homes. This is one of the most important roles in the PAS 2035 process, as the assessor relied upon by others to help make important decisions.
Their job is to visit properties and carry out a survey that is required to inform decision making about the measures that need be implemented.
Working under the supervision of a Retrofit Coordinator, assessors carry a great deal of responsibility, as if the assessment is flawed, others in the retrofit process are likely to get things wrong. The role involves:

This Skills Bootcamp is designed for individuals looking to upskill and gain employment in the retrofit industry, specifically looking at the safe and efficient ventilation and insulation of properties.
It is also designed for those already in the construction sector that want to upskill in the latest insulation and ventilation systems.
The scale of the challenge is enormous with over 1 million properties requiring retrofitting each year to 2050. Across the UK there is a shortage of over 225,000 skilled workers in the retrofit sector. If you are looking for a career that will enable you to grow your skills and your income, this is one of the best sectors to choose.
A Fabric First (insulation and ventilation) approach to retrofit is PAS2035 compliant route that is followed by government funded local authorities and housing associations. The UK has some of the poorest housing stock in Europe and requires some 27 million homes to be retrofitted to meet the Net Zero targets by 2050.
The Skills Bootcamp covers the essentials of how to install ventilation systems to avoid the issues of damp and mould, including cavity wall insulation, loft and underfloor insulation. We also have additional modules that cover internal and external wall insulation.
The course will provide an introduction to property retrofitting and the skills needed for improving the fabric of a property. It will provide the first step in developing valuable skills in a sector that needs over 400,000 workers by 2030 if the UK is to achieve it's 2050 target.
The Skills Bootcamp one day per week for 10 weeks.
