This introductory course offers training in horse care, including grooming, feeding, and stable management. 16-18 Free There may be some additional costs during the year, such as trips or equipment. All learners are expected to wear a uniform, which is ordered at the time of enrolment. You will be expected to have appropriate riding and yard clothing to undertake the course. You will also need classroom equipment, including a folder, paper and pens so that you can take notes when in class.

Achieving a Grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English is important, but if you're not there yet, don’t worry! We provide supportive classes to help you meet these essential criteria. These subjects form the backbone of your educational toolkit, opening doors to further studies and exciting apprenticeships. Our sessions in Maths and English will equip you with the skills needed to thrive academically and professionally.

At Level 1, our courses are designed to lay a solid foundation without the requirement of a work placement, allowing you to focus fully on mastering the fundamentals of your chosen field. As you progress to Level 2 and Level 3, we encourage you to enhance your learning experience and boost your career prospects through targeted work placements. These opportunities are crafted to complement your studies and provide practical, hands-on experience in a real-world setting, preparing you to excel in a career you are passionate about.

The aim of the course is to develop skills and knowledge in the equine and land-based sector.

In order to complete the diploma, there are 2 mandatory and 5 optional modules to complete.

Mandatory units:
- Health and safety
- Work experience

Optional units:
- Assist with the movement, handling and accommodation of animals
- Assist with feeding and watering of animals
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of animal accommodation
- Maintain the health of horses
- Assist with the preparation for the exercise and aftercare of horses

What’s next?

Upon completing this course, students are perfectly positioned to progress to Level 2 qualifications in equine studies, broadening their expertise and enhancing employability. This training opens doors to various roles in stable management, grooming, and equine care facilities. With practical skills and theoretical knowledge, students are well-prepared to pursue fulfilling careers in the equine industry or continue their education, further specialising in their passion for horse care.
