What’s it all about?

This course is designed to provide you with an understanding of the principles of the uniformed services sector and to allow you to explore the various avenues of work within it.

You will gain transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study. The course will give you an understanding of the uniformed public services sector and the career opportunities available. You will gain the ability to prepare for a recruitment interview and understand the personal commitment and fitness requirements needed to be employed in a uniformed service role.

English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 4-9 in GCSE Maths and/or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.

In recent years we have had students take part in battle camps around the U.K that have been facilitated by the British Army.

There will be opportunities throughout the course to develop industry links with a range of uniformed serves. These Include the fire brigade, ambulance service and the police.

We have several links to industry including partnerships with the armed services, police service, fire brigade and ambulance service to ensure you gain an outstanding learning experience with us and are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to progress to a career in industry.

The aim of the course is to develop the skills and knowledge that will help you to pursue a career in the uniformed services.

These might include Communication, Teamwork, Resilience and Physical fitness.

Students will be given the opportunity to develop and demonstrate these skills through both academic and practical work.

You will study the following modules:

- Investigate Employment in the Uniformed Services
- Physical Fitness for the Uniformed Services
- Develop Team Working and Problem-Solving Skills
- Health and Safety in the Uniformed Services
- Follow Uniformed Service Routine
- Exploring Equality and Diversity for the Uniformed Services
- Carry Out Map Reading and Navigation
- Undertake Adventurous Activities
- Explore the Use of Telecommunication in the Uniformed Services
- Explore Volunteering and Volunteering Opportunities

What’s next?

On completion of this course, you could progress to further study, such as a Level 2 Uniformed Public Service course. This will allow you to gain the entry qualifications and requirements in order to enter into employment within a specific uniformed service.
