You will learn a range of skills and techniques for working in a professional kitchen. These will include safe working practices, health and safety and the different tools and equipment you will find. You will also learn and explore a range of cooking methods such as boiling, poaching and steaming, baking and roasting, deep and shallow frying and the production of cold food items.
You will need a strong desire to succeed, a keen interest in the subject and a positive outlook. You will also require an English Language GCSE at Level 4 or above and ideally GCSE Maths at a minimum of Level 3/4.

All of your learning will take place between theory and practical sessions, alongside shifts in our training restaurant/kitchen. You will be assessed by practical observations, knowledge test and assignments.
All sessions are designed to enhance your skills throughout the course.
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.
You will be required to undertake a placement through out your Level 2 course, which we can help you to arrange.

This course could take you straight into industry at an appropriate level or on to study a Level 3 Professional Cookery.
