What’s it all about?

The Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skills is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of cooking and wish to build upon their skills to prepare for a career in the culinary industry. This course offers a blend of practical training and theoretical knowledge, focusing on intermediate cooking techniques and kitchen operations.

You will need a strong desire to succeed, a keen interest in the subject and a positive outlook. You will also require an English Language GCSE at Level 4 or above and ideally GCSE Maths at a minimum of Level 3/4.

19+ please enquire You will need to provide your own stationery and you will be given the opportunity to take part in trips and visits. Some trips may require payment.

Students will be assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations, written assignments and projects. There may also be opportunities for assessments through real-world cooking scenarios and work placements.

English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.

You will be required to undertake a placement through out your Level 2 course, which we can help you to arrange.

Mon-Fri, between 9am-4pm. Days and times of study are subject to change. Timetables are confirmed at the start of term.

- Health and Safety in Catering and Hospitality
- Healthier Food and Special Diets
- Catering Operations, Costs and Menu Planning
- Prepare and Cook Stocks, Soups and Sauces
- Prepare and Cook Fruit and Vegetables
- Prepare and Cook Meat and Offal
- Prepare and Cook Poultry
- Prepare and Cook Fish and Shellfish
- Prepare and Cook Rice, Pasta, Grains and Egg Dishes

What’s next?

On completion of this coursre, students can progress to Level 3 qualifications in Professional Cookery or related fields, apprenticeships, or employment in various culinary roles such as:

– Commis Chef
– Junior Chef
– Kitchen Assistant
– Catering Assistant
