You are required to have achieved two grade 3 GCSEs only to enrol on this course. There is no requirement for Maths or English.

You will be assessed in a variety of ways throughout the course, such as practical observations, reports, projects, posters, etc.
There are no exams for this course.
This course combines practical and theoretical delivery and content. You will develop coaching and leadership skills, practical abilitie and improve your knowledge and behaviours in preparation for your next step.
Maths and English are important skills. If you have not already achieved GCSE grade 4 or higher in Maths and/or English, you will resit these alongside your Level 2 Sport qualification.
This course has been designed with employers to make sure that you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become part of the future workforce.
You will have the opportunity to visit employers, take part in master classes and guest sessions, as well as completing a 1-2 week work experience for a job role of your choice.
We have excellent links with local employers, such as Active Northumberland.
This is a full-time course. Your timetable will be provided at enrolment and normally runs across 3 or 4 days per week, between the hours of 9am and 4pm
You will study modules including:
- Participating in sport
- Sports coaching
- Developing sporting skills and tactical awareness
Plus one optional unit (learners preference)
You will also complete some additional qualifications, including a Level 2 Community Sports Leaders Award, cardiac arrest training and first aid training.
You could progress to further study, such as our Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Sport.
Alternatively, you could also progress into employment or into an apprenticeship.
