Individuals who operate and carry out felling and processing medium size trees over 380mm and up to 760mm as part of their work in arboriculture, forestry, or other industries. It will provide the individual with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to carry out this work.
It covers hazards, risks, controls, emergency procedures, legislation, industry good practice, felling and processing medium size tress over 380mm up to 760mm.
After successful completion you will be able to safely fell and process trees over 380mm to 760mm in diameter.
You will need to be at least 16 years of age and should hold a ‘Certificate of Competence’ in the following units:
- Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting
- Award in Felling and Processing small trees up to 380mm
(Verification of these units must be produced prior to the start of the course)
You will be taught using a mix of theory and practical and assessment. Certification should take place as soon as possible following the successful completion of the training course.

This is a short course – 3 days of training with integrated assessment.
This course will take place between 9am-5pm. Days are dependent on booking availability.
This course will provide you with the appropriate techniques and safety guidelines to ensure that you are not only comfortable felling and processing trees over 380mm, but are also aware of relevant health and safety guidelines.
City and Guilds.
You will be able to safely undertake the felling and process of trees over 380mm. Following the completion of this course, you could continue by studying one of our other land-based courses.
