What’s it all about?

This course will look to develop your existing skills and knowledge, you will study detailed building methods and construction technology, including a range of advanced first fix and second fix operations.

You will study the theory and practical elements of complex structural roofs and stairs and how to set up and operate a wide range of fixed and transportable woodworking machines.

You will need 4 GCSE's at grade 4-9, including Maths and English. Or a relevant Level 2 qualification.

19+ please enquire PPE uniform and equipment are mandatory requirements for this course. These can be purchased through our discount partnership supplier with Bursaries available where applicable.

Your progress will be assessed by written and practical tests within the college and a final online multiple-choice test for Principles of Pricing and Planning of Construction Work.

Maths and English are essential life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your chosen career.

If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/ or English we will support you to improve your skills.

There will be 1 week work placement in a relevant industry setting.

This course is for those who wish to start a career in the construction industry but are currently unemployed or working in a different industry.

You will stufy the following modules:

- Principles of Pricing and Planning Construction Activities
- First Fix Complex Roofs and Stairs
- 2nd Fix Double Doors and Mouldings
- Set up and Operate Fixed and Transportable Machinery
