The 16-19 tuition fund is funding for the 2020-2021, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years. It is ring fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16-19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19).
The 16-19 Tuition Fund is available to all 16-19 providers such as Northumberland College and is ring-fenced for 16-19 small group tuition only. This funding will be used to provide personalised support through small group tuition for specific cohorts of 16-19 students in English, Maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted. For example, vocational courses where assessment has been deferred because of lockdown.
The College commits to using the small group tuition funding to provide tailored intervention in order to improve English and maths skills and develop practical and academic skills in vocational provision. Sessions will be limited to up to five students per group (max of 7 in 2021-22 and 2022-2023) and will be above and beyond normal timetabled hours.
In some cases, it will provide additional Progress tutorial sessions to further enhance personal development and progression opportunities for identified students. Additional pastoral support will be delivered to ensure the wellbeing of students and allowing them to fully engage with the available academic support.
We will prioritise support for students in this order:
