Students and staff at Kirkley Hall Campus are celebrating an outstanding 100% pass rate in equine exams for the third year running.

All 23 Equine Management students gained a pass, merit or distinction in their spring technical diploma and technical certificate exams, with all passing at the first attempt.

The college’s Animal Management courses also achieved an incredible 100% pass rate.

Student Amy Heavisides, who is studying Level Equine Management, said: “I was so happy with my results and that I passed first time. This is going to help me a lot in the future with either doing another course to expand my knowledge and qualifications or an equine veterinary nursing apprenticeship.”

Final results for Animal Management and Equine Management synoptic exam are still to be calculated but it is expected the students will achieve 100% results across all qualifications.

Karen Bell, Curriculum Team Leader for the college’s Animal, Equine and Vet programmes, said: “We are so incredibly proud of our students and everything that they have achieved during their time with us, especially in such difficult circumstances.

“To achieve 100% pass rate for three years in a row for our spring equine exams is a truly incredible result – we couldn’t be happier with how hard our students have worked so far this year.“

Northumberland College’s Kirkley Hall Campus is currently undergoing major redevelopment, which will see the construction of a state-of-the-art equine centre of excellence, including a new indoor arena with viewing gallery and an education hub to develop equine management skills such as farriery, animal dentistry and physiotherapy and improvements to existing facilities.

Investing in your future with outstanding new facilities.
