You are required to have a good standard of education and competence. Assessment of suitability is likely to be based on GCSE grades or equivalent. Mature students with relevant experience will also be considered

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments, observations, written assignments and identification tests. Assessments are spread out and varied to allow your skills to develop. You will also sit an online multiple choice exam on the art and design unit

Achieving a grade 4 (A-C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is crucial for your future success, opening doors to further education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. These core subjects are the foundation of many careers, and most employers and colleges require them. If you didn't achieve the grades you need, don't worry our college offers dedicated GCSE Maths and English courses designed to help you succeed. With our expert tutors and supportive learning environment, you'll have the tools you need to improve your grades and unlock your full potential.

40 hours of supervised practical work experience over the academic year is required. This will be completed in a florist shop or similar.

If you are interested in learning all aspects of the floristry industry, including practical floral designs including bouquets, weddings, funerals and arrangements, as well as art and design and identifying and treatment of flowers and function decorating, then this course is for you

This course includes both practical floristry and industry training. There are 10 units including Art and design, care and monitoring of fresh materials, planted designs, hand tied bouquets, funeral and wedding designs, floral arrangements, display, function decorating and working in the industry.

What’s next?

Upon completing this programme, students can advance their studies with our Level 3 courses, enhancing their expertise in floristry and horticulture. Alternatively, you may enter the floristry industry, where opportunities abound in retail floristry shops, floral design studios, or event organising. Each path offers a chance to craft a career filled with creativity and growth, turning floral passions into professional pursuits.
