You will need a Level 2 qualification in hairdressing or barbering.

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical observations and online tests.
Ideally you will need to have a placement in a barbers to gain the practice required.
We have links within the industry with organisations such as Mhfed, Wahl, the British Barbers Association, and the British Barber Bash.
You will study modules including:
- Cutting and blending techniques
- Designs within hair
- Cutting facial hair to shape
- Shaving and facial massage services
Northumberland College take an active part in local, regional and national competitions.
You may progress to Level 3 in Hairdressing or salon management. Alternatively, you could progress into employment within a salon.
