Engineering students recently visited pharmaceuticals firm, Arcinova in Alnwick to learn more about the process of engineering and pharmaceutical manufacturing within the North East.
The college’s Level 2 General Engineering students experienced first-hand what it’s like to work within a real-world work environment, and spent the morning being shown the ropes by the companies Head of Maintenance, Stuart Munro and Commercial Operations Officer, Sophie Read.
Kris Archer, Skills Coach in Engineering, said: “Arcinova and Northumberland College have a strong relationship through the delivery of our apprenticeship program. Using this link, we teamed up to arrange for our Level 2 full-time engineering students to gain crucial industry experience and an insight into how engineering assists pharmaceutical manufacturing by attending Arcinovas world-leading manufacturing facility in Alnwick.”
Arcinova provides a range of services for the pharmaceutical industry, including manufacturing and consultancy. It operates from a 15,000m2 facility on a 34-acre site which has seen decades of investment as a key research and development centre and plans are currently underway for future site visits to enhance our students understanding of the industry.
