Northumberland College Engineering apprentice Isaac Bryson received the Highly Commended Accolade in the Occupational Awards (OAL), coming second against hundreds of entrants.
The event was the first award ceremony that the OAL has hosted, taking place at York Racecourse in which Isaac and his lecturer attended.
Isaac received his award after completing his Level 2 Lean OP Apprenticeship, achieving a distinction – a first for Northumberland College as he was the first to pass his End Point Assessment (EPA) on the programme.
As a holistic and independent assessment, the EPA is designed to test whether an apprentice has gained the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the relevant standard, and it grades the apprentice according to their performance.
Isaac said: “Being nominated for the award was a huge honour, but to reach the finals and receive an award makes all the hard work and time gone into the course that much more worth it.
“I’m very thankful for the opportunity given to me and look forward to doing future courses.”
Kris Archer, Trainer & Assessor for Technical Qualifications in Engineering, added: “It was a pleasure seeing Isaac receive this accolade.
“His work whilst on programme was a real showcase of both himself and his company. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching Isaac and I know he will go far within the industry.”
Occupational Awards Limited is a recognised awarding body and approved end-point assessment organisation, working across a range of important industry sectors, including food and drink, furniture and wood, learningand assessment, and health and safety.
