What do you need to apply for the course?

You will need, Level 3 Diploma in Engineering or Operations and Maintenance Engineering, relevant A-Levels or work experience.

If you are a mature learner you may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in your work sector.

How will you be assessed?

You will be assessed through a range of assignments, which may include written reports, practical activities, engineering projects and presentations.
You will receive feedback on draft work to help you improve before final submission, alongside feedback on assessed work to support your progress. Your assessed work contributes to your overall unit grades.

Maths & English

You will need a GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths to enrol on this course.

Time commitments

• Part-time: The course runs over two years, with one day of teaching per week.
You will also need to allow time outside taught sessions for independent study, research and completing assignments.

This course aims to develop the engineering knowledge and practical skills needed to solve real-world engineering problems and progress in your career or further study.
You will build confidence in analysing problems, developing solutions and managing projects, alongside communication, teamwork and independent working skills. You will also consider cost, sustainability and ethical responsibilities when making engineering decisions.

Unit 4004 involves an engineering project based on a theme set by Pearson.
