To gain the qualification, learners must successfully achieve 30 credits via assignments and practical assessments in their chosen modules.
Learners must also complete 150 hours of work experience in an animal care setting. This will include 120 hours internally in the college zoo and 30 externally in industry.
Achieving a grade 4 (A-C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is crucial for your future success, opening doors to further education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. These core subjects are the foundation of many careers, and most employers and colleges require them. If you didn't achieve the grades you need, don't worry our college offers dedicated GCSE Maths and English courses designed to help you succeed. With our expert tutors and supportive learning environment, you'll have the tools you need to improve your grades and unlock your full potential.
You will have the opportunity to take part in a placement in the animal care industry.
As part of the course, you will take part in 150 hours of placement in industry.
120 hours of the placement can be completed via industrial experience in the college zoo.
The remaining 30 hours must be completed in an external placement. Health and safety checks are completed by the college and support from skills coaches is available.

The aim of the course is to develop youir skills and knowledge in animal care to allow you to progress to further learning/training and/or a career in the animal care industry.
