What is the Principal's Scholarship?

We have launched a competitive scholarship scheme that will fund fees for a Higher Education course commencing in September. The scheme has been created to support progressing students’ future career aspirations enabling them to study a Higher Education course of their choice at Northumberland College.

How do I apply?

To apply for the Principal's Scholarship, students must:

  • Apply for a Higher Education course at Northumberland College
  • Enrol on a new* Higher Education course (*a new course means you are not enrolling onto a programme you are already studying/have already studied)
  • Meet the course requirements and accept an offer
  • Submit a Principal's Scholarship application form (short form outlining what your career aspirations are and how a higher education course will support your future ambitions)

Deadlines for submission

  • Applicants must apply for a course by April 2025
  • Applicants should accept their offer within 15 days of receipt
  • The deadline for the Principal's Scholarship application form is 19th May 2025
  • Applications will be assessed and the scholarship will be awarded via email by 16th June 2025

To be eligible for the Higher Education Principal's Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a student currently enrolled at Northumberland College.
  • Be currently enrolled on a Level 3 Course.
  • Meet the Higher Education course requirements and accept an offer
  • Submit a Principal's Scholarship application form by clicking the button below (short form outlining what your career aspirations are and how a Higher Education course will support your ambitions)
  • Submit an application answering the questions below:
    • What makes you an outstanding student and why should we award you the - Principal's Scholarship?
    • How would the Scholarship and completing a Higher Education course help you achieve your future career plans?
  • Successful students will be selected based on the quality of their application, and winners will be notified via email by 16th June 2025

The Principal's Scholarship will fund course fees for the successful applicants. Successful applicants will not be required to pay course fees.

The Principal's scholarship is not awarded in cash.

Unsuccessful applicants will be provided with advice and guidance on how to fund their course fees via Higher Education loans, employer sponsorships (where appropriate) or self-funding.
