We are open to the public on weekends and Northumberland County Council school holidays.
Tickets can be purchased online or on the day at the zoo.
We are situated in the beautiful Kirkley Hall campus. The zoo is the main centre where all animal care students train while studying animal management courses.
Open since 2011, we now boast over 150 different species for you to learn about, ranging from lemurs and alpacas, to armadillos and monkeys.
We are lucky to care for a range of species that are endangered in the wild and are part of European Endangered Species Programmes (EEPs), including pied tamarins, crowned lemurs and dik-diks.
We have a number of accessibility features at Northumberland College Zoo to ensure an enjoyable and informative experience for all our guest.
Watch our 360 virtual tour of our facilities, created in partnership with the Newcastle Gateshead, to plan your accessible visit to the zoo.
Our helpful guide can support you in preparing your children for their upcoming visit to the zoo. You can use the guide below to explain to children what they may see, hear and experience throughout different areas of the zoo, so they know what to expect when they arrive.
We have a kiosk in the centre of the zoo that sells a range of cold packaged food items, along with hot and cold drinks. Here you can also find some great value gifts. Surrounding the kiosk is our lovely picnic area with lots of benches for you to enjoy a cup of tea or your lunch.
During your visit, you can also enjoy a walk around the gardens. Please note, the car park and campus close and the main gate locked 30 minutes after the zoo closes at 4.30pm.
Our woodland areas are also available to visit.
Please note: The woodlands are currently closed due to damage caused by recent storms. We are working to get the woodland areas repaired to ensure they are safe for our visitors to walk through again.
