We offer a unique and bespoke experience for each outreach session.
We want to help you bring your learning to life through an amazing engaging outreach session at your venue.
One of our amazing presenter team can come to your school or event and carry out a workshop fitting around your learning outcomes.
For the workshops we aim to be able to manage a group of up to 30 per session. Each workshop session can then be repeated for other groups that day.
Please note: No live animals or invertebrates will be used in any outreach event.
Here at Northumberland College Zoo, we believe the welfare of all our animals in our care is of the upmost importance and we respect all animals no matter how small or large they are.
Reviewing current Zoo Licensing legislation, we no longer feel we can meet the animals’ welfare requirements during the transportation and storing of animals at outreach events when they are out of their normal habitats at the zoo.
We are happy to work with you to come and do a pre-visit outreach workshop to your school and then offer a discounted visit to the zoo. Please contact us if that is something that would work for you to see the animals in their best habitats.
We can work with you to produce a workshop to cover learning outcomes that you want to cover.
Subjects include adaptations, diets and feeding, habitats, conservation and animal care.
Please get in touch and we can work with you to create a bespoke workshop for your group(s).
We are often asked to attend events such as fayres and shows. You can reach out to us for pricing information for these events.
Please note: You will need to provide a gazebo, tables and chairs, and two power sockets. No live animals will be used during these events.
We may need to access the site before the outreach date to carry out a risk assessment. In some cases, we will carry out a dynamic risk assessment on the day of the outreach event instead.
For the outreach events we need to be able to unload close to the room we will be using so we can bring in the artefacts and equipment. Please allow a space to be reserved close to the entrance for the zoo vehicle.
As part of the workshop there is a presentation that we require the group to be able to view. This can be sent to you before so you can then have this on display ready for us.
All our presenter team are DBS checked before starting their employment with us.
We do require that all attendees wash their hands at the start of the session. Throughout the session we will pass around hand sanitiser
