Northumberland College Plumbing Apprentice, Ben Fairbairn made it to the final round of HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year competition held in Gloucester.
The competition which has been running for 11 years, saw 7 regional heats across the country. Winners from each heat along with the highest national runner up went on to the grand final.
Ben won the North East regional heat which was held in Newcastle last year to make it to the national finals.
Tutor Kevin Sewell said:
“Ben is now in his third year of Plumbing at the college. Whenever he is shown anything practical in the workshop he always gave 100% effort to achieve perfection.
“Due to his excellent workmanship, last year I entered Ben to the regional heat, and this was his first ever attempt at a plumbing competition and he won which is a fantastic achievement and great for his CV”
