Students at Northumberland College’s Kirkley Hall Campus are once again celebrating outstanding results in their T Levels and technical qualifications.
After two years of hard work at the specialist land-based campus, students on Level 3 programmes faced an anxious wait to discover that their efforts had paid off, with high grades achieved across Agriculture, Animal Management, Equine and Horticulture courses.
The brilliant results reflect the strength of the college’s provision and the quality of teaching and support provided by its staff, which help students to develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to progress into further study and careers.
T Levels in Agriculture, Land Management and Production, and Animal Care and Management recorded 100% pass rates, while a superb 85% of technical qualifications in Animal Management, Equine, and Horticulture being awarded at merit or distinction level.
Students are now progressing to university, higher-level apprenticeships, further study and employment across the land-based industries, with 100% of students who secured university places heading to their first-choice university.
Evie Adamson is now looking towards a career in animal care after achieving a Merit. The former Bedlington Academy pupil said: “I was very happy when I opened my results; I did cry.
“I’ve always loved working with animals, and my T Level helped me develop the skills I need for my career.”
Fellow student Ellie Dent will be heading to Aberystwyth University to study a degree in Veterinary Nursing, said: “I was happy when I saw my results.
“The best thing about Kirkley Hall Campus is the zoo. The teachers are also supportive, and the campus is exciting and welcoming. I would recommend studying here.”
The latest results continue a successful academic year which saw Kirkley Hall Campus named the country’s second-best performing land-based college in the 2024-25 National Achievement Rates Tables published in March by the Department for Education, and the best in the Northeast
Students have access to a unique learning environment, including the campus’ 400-acre estate, working farm, equine facilities, walled gardens, and teaching zoo with over 150 species of animals, allowing them to develop practical skills alongside their academic studies.
Lee Lister, Executive Principal for National Skills 16-19, said: “Today is a fantastic celebration of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. We are incredibly proud of the results achieved across our land-based provision.
“To see our students continue to achieve such strong results is a real testament to their commitment and to the expertise of our staff.
“Kirkley Hall provides a truly unique, ambitious and inclusive environment where students can combine academic learning with hands-on, industry-focused experience, giving them the skills and confidence to succeed in their chosen careers. We wish them all the best for their futures.”
