Education Partnership North East (EPNE) held the second Business and Apprenticeship Awards ceremony of the year to celebrate the achievements of the region’s apprentices.
Held at Northumberland College’s Kirkley Hall Campus and hosted by EPNE Chief Executive Ellen Thinnesen, the evening saw six apprentices receive Apprentice of the Year awards across different sectors including Engineering, Health and Social Care, and Land Based industries.
Ellen Thinnesen, Chief Executive of EPNE, said: “It was great to hear why apprentices had won their awards and it was clear the ceremony and individual recognition meant so much to not only the apprentice and employer, but to parents and family members too.”
The winners were Elijah Marshall (Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd – SMD), Lucy Henderson (Redesdale Equestrian Centre), Bradley Rochester (A F Tyres & Exhausts), Gillian Leo (Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Trust), Scott Brady (Newcastle City Council), and Jean Richardson (Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Trust)
Nathan Robinson, Groundworker apprentice with Capita took home the award of Overall Apprentice of the Year. The apprentices were presented with certificates and £50 vouchers.
Guests enjoyed a three-course meal in the campus’s banqueting hall, prepared and served by the college’s professional cookery and hospitality students.
