English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and or English, we will support you to improve your skills.

Attendance at college for three days a week term-time is required plus completion of 150 hrs work placement. If you need to continue to study maths and/or English GCSE then this will mean you will attend college for a fourth day each week. In addition to attendance, you will need to spend 2/3 hours each week on independent study and assignment work.

You will need to successfully complete a theory exam, a synoptic assignment, a health and safety exam, work experience and a choice of 2 optional units, which can be chosen from a range of topics. Topics are both practical and theoretical.

Please note: Riding is an optional module and is subject to the successful completion of an initial ridden assessment, as well as meeting the rider weight limit in place to uphold equine welfare. Availability of this module may vary depending on the horses we have at the time, so we are unable to confirm a fixed weight limit in advance.

What’s next?

Upon completing this course, students can pursue careers in various equine-related fields, such as stable management, riding instruction, or equine welfare roles. Alternatively, they may continue their studies with higher education with our Level 5 Foundation Degree in Equine Management, Coaching & Training or join other degrees such as equine science or business management, enhancing their prospects in areas like equine therapy or breeding. This qualification provides the foundation to thrive in both hands-on and managerial positions within the equine industry.
