Northumberland College student Lydia Swinburn is celebrating after winning a bronze medal at the prestigious Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) National Finals.
Lydia placed third in the TV and Film Character Make-up category in Blackpool, competing against some of the most talented make-up artists from colleges and universities across the UK.
Receiving her award, Lydia said:
“I loved the competition. Seeing all of the other competitors work was inspiring and I’m so pleased I won. This has helped build my confidence and improved my skills and time management as I only had one hour to complete the look.”
Karen Lightley, Lecturer and Course Leader in Media Make-up and Special Effects, added:
“I’m very proud of Lydia demonstrating dedication despite the current health concerns and challenging herself. Well done Lydia on winning a bronze medal in the UK national AHT competition finals.”
